FIRST VERSION OF COMMON EMULATION API MADE PUBLICLY AVAILABLE THROUGH OPEN
SYSTEMC
--Breakthrough Common Interface A Major Benefit For Users--
SAN JOSE, Calif., April 24, 2001 Today the SCE-API consortium announced
the availability of the specification for a common emulation applications
programming interface on the Open SystemC web site at
http://www.systemc.org
The SCE-API Version 1.0 document and two SystemC-based examples of its use are
included in the posting.
The formation of the SCE-API consortium was publicly announced in February. The
founding members of the consortium are Aptix Corporation, CoWare, IKOS
Systems, Mentor Graphics Corporation, STMicroelectronics, Synopsys, and
TransEDA.
The groundbreaking interface allows third parties and emulation vendors to use
a common interface for connecting 3rd
party tools and proprietary software solutions to all emulators that support
the interface.
SCE-API Version 1.0 is based on transaction interface technology donated to the
consortium by IKOS Systems. The result is a standard modeling interface for
emulators which provides multiple message-passing channels between software
models running on a host workstation and RTL models running in an emulator.
In addition to making the interface available through the Open SystemC
Initiative (OSCI) the Consortium is also in discussions with Accellera, and
hopes to move SCE-API under the standards organizations umbrella soon.
